Our History
One windy winter’s day Jonathan entered an arena best left to someone with a bit more experience and skill…the laundry. Like most of us, he hung his newly-washed, but as yet still wet, bed sheets over the verandah handrails. Proud of his efforts, he went inside for a relaxing coffee.
You can guess what happened next… Before he had time to flip the switch on the kettle, he watched in horror as his sheets blew off the balcony, straight down into his largely incomplete pool.
Being a man capable of great lateral thought, Jonathan decided he needed to retrieve the sheets and attach them to his handrails, but what was there to attach them with? After unsuccessfully trying a number of household items – washing pegs, bulldog clips etc – he was reduced to putting plant pots on the sheets to hold them down. The marks left on those sheets haunt Jonathan to this very day.
Being one of the world’s greatest thinkers and philosophers of our time – well, certainly of the northern beaches of Sydney – Jonathan sat down and mused at how all those people who use their handrails for holding and drying sheets, beach towels, wet suits, bath towels and even board shorts and bikinis must face the same dilemma.
Then it struck him… the world needs a large peg!
After a long and careful design and patent process, utilising the newest ecofriendly technologies, Jonathan’s Fatmouth Handrail Pegs were born!
